The Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME) was launched in 2002 and currently comprises 37 member organisations from 21 Mediterranean countries. It’s headquarter is located in Barcelona. AFAEMME is the largest federation of businesswomen associations in the Mediterranean area; a coordinator of European and Mediterranean business and gender projects and ground-breaking research; a networking platform for women entrepreneurs; and a Euro-Mediterranean lobby organisation.

AFAEMME is member of the EC’s Network of Women in Decision-Making Positions in Politics and the Economy, the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) and of the Anna Lindh Foundation. AFAEMME is also treasurer and member of the ANIMA Investment Network, international partner of the Global Summit of Women and organisation is special consultative status with the ECOSOC since 2011.

AFAEMME contributes to the promotion of women in decision-making positions in the economy by enhancing their business and management abilities and supporting them in achieving their professional goals. AFAEMME also develops relations among women entrepreneurs in the region and exercices influence on public opinion through events, campaigns and lobbying to authorities with the objective of achieving equality between women and men.
